Visit Solar Homes This Weekend - Octiober 2, 2010

The solar inductry looks forward to your participation in the single largest public demonstration of solar technology for homes and commercial buildings. The National Solar Tour is organized nationally by the American Solar Energy Society (www.ases.org) and promoted in Connecticut by Solar Connecticut (www.solarconnecticut.org), a non-profit organization dedicated to building a solar community in the state.

The Connecticut Solar Tour is held on October 2nd, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. There is no cost to visit any of the installation sites. This event is a perfect opportunity for those interested in solar power to see first-hand the types of installations and technologies of interest to them. Tour sites are hosted by knowledgeable installers, designers, or site owners who will be prepared to provide information and discuss system details.

Featured sites are posted below. if you want to visit any iof these sites with a solar expert - Sundoor Solar in Meriden has organized an Executive Van that will visit all of these homes with interested residential and Commercial consumers. Please call them at 203.630.7077 for a seat on the bus.

NESEA works with over 70 local organizers and member businesses to market the event, increase participation and promote our members services. Many of the sites were designed and/or built by NESEA professional members. Over 16,000 people toured over 500 sites in October 2009. We anticipate even a greater interest this year.

In Connecticut, where the current policy requires 27 percent of energy must come from renewable energy by 2020, the state is being crippled by high energy prices. The highest rates in the US behind only Hawaii. As more wind and solar are added to the grid, at a higher price per KW than coal, nuclear or natural gas, the state fears energy costs will rise even higher. On January 1, 2007, electricity rates increased 25% to 72%, in the Connecticut Light and Power and United Illuminating electricity service territories, resulting in higher costs for all commercial customers. They have gone up 6% per year since on average. The solar homes are located in:

Sundoor Solar is a Connecticut based solar power installation company that designs, installs and services photovoltaic (PV) power systems. Sundoor is the brainchild of its two partners, David Luft and Ernie DeCosta.

David founded his electrical contracting company, Dalco Electric, known for its commitment to a long term relationship with its customers, for over 23 years. He is a Connecticut Master Electrician, license #E1-125263. Sundoor Solar is an approved Connecticut Clean Energy Fund Installer in part, due to David's electrical experience and reputation.

Ernie as been in the home improvement and sunroom business since 1983 starting HomeTech Sunrooms 13 years ago. He estimates that he has built over 500 sunrooms over that period of time. His initiation into the solar industry began as an installer of passive solar collectors in sunrooms that he built for his sunroom customers.

They share a passion for the use of alternative energy resources as a means of creating a sustainable, environmental solutions to our power needs. In 2009 they decided to make their passion a reality and combine their experience and skills and started Sundoor Solar.

Currently, Sundoor Solar is a professional solar design and installation company that is building its reputation on its core conviction of honest, conservative estimates of how homeowners and businesses can reap the benefits of solar energy.
