Romeoville, Illinois, September 22nd, 2010… Vintage Tech Recyclers, Inc. , a leading asset recovery and electronics recycling company in the Chicago area has become one of only 15 companies in the USA to achieve the R2 (Responsible Recycling) Certification.
In addition to being R2 certified, Vintage Tech Recyclers is also a certified WBE (Women’s Business Enterprise) company. Karrie Gibson, president and owner says, “Our team has worked hard to understand the requirements and put in place the best practices mandated in EPA’s R2 certification process. Having become one of the first few recycling companies in the country to be R2 certified, we consider it our responsibility to set new standards of excellence in electronics recycling.”
A recent initiative of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the R2 Certification outlines best practices for electronics recycling. The EPA’s interest in end-of-life electronics revovles around 3 main areas of concern:

1.Rapid growth in the use and obsolescence
2.Opportunity to recover large amounts of embodied energy and valuable materials inherent in used electronics
3.Ensure that electronics recycling is done in an environmentally safe manner
