ACS takes next step in and defines the new standard in tree-care

Today, Active Constructions Services, one of Europe's leading designers of forest adventure parks and high ropes activity courses, announced a new example of green engineering by introducing a new tree anchoring device for the main suspension cables of high ropes activity courses.

"The regulations regarding the operational safety of climbing parks issued by the European industry watchdogs are very strict and can be rather tough on trees that are part of the main supporting structures of a high ropes course ," said Kees-Jan Verwaal, the technical director of ACS. "We have always been keen to come up with a solution that maintains the highest safety standards but doesn't involve cutting or damaging the trees. And eventually we did."

The new device is based on a system of specially designed brackets, has been extensively tested and recently obtained the official approval of the German Technische Überwachungsverein. Unlike the approach currently used by other manufacturers, the device designed by ACS can be individually adjusted according to the ongoing growth pattern of a tree.

"Compared to the multi-layer steel cable winding configuration used by our competitors, our system can be installed much quicker and also leads to a 50% reduction in maintenance costs," added van Voorst.

"This is just a further step in our strategy to provide people with the maximum outdoor experience with as little impact on the natural environment as possible. Besides, trees are your number one asset when you are running a forest adventure park. Keeping trees healthy is therefore nothing else but a form of sustainable investment."
