Press release from: Pharmacy OneSource

Helping provide real-time solutions to infection preventionists

Bellevue, WA – Pharmacy OneSource today announced that Tom Jordan, RN, BS, CIC, has joined the team as Director of Infection Prevention.

Tom Jordan has more than 25 years of experience as a registered nurse. Prior to becoming an infection preventionist, he worked in pediatric intensive care, trauma nursing, and employee health. He has 20 years experience in acute care infection prevention. Eight of those years he covered both acute and a rehab hospitals. He has been an APIC member for many years and has contributed articles to Advance for Nurses and Nursing Spectrum. Most recently Tom was the Director of Infection Prevention at a hospital which was one of the first Sentri7 Infection Prevention customers.

"As the Director of Infection Prevention at a 200-bed acute care hospital, Sentri7 helped to dramatically streamline daily isolation management and HAI surveillance. For the first time in 20 years as an infection preventionist, I was able to maintain concurrent, real-time HAI identification, trending, and internal reporting at a nursing unit based level," said Jordan.

He added, "With the added time gained through use of Sentri7, I was able to spend significantly more time in education and prevention activities. I had the time to facilitate multi-disciplinary, weekly task force meetings addressing VAPs and CLABSIs. As a result of maximizing the features of Sentri7 and the hard work of team members, the hospital reached the milestones of 12 consecutive months without a VAP in the ICU or a CLABSI hospital-wide. The greatest praise I can give Sentri7 is the fact that I just recently joined the Sentri7 team as the Director of Infection Prevention."

Sentri7 recently launched new infection prevention capabilities at the APIC Annual Meeting in July 2010. The electronic surveillance system enables infection preventionists to improve their workflows related to isolation management, HAI investigation and NHSN reporting.

"We are all very excited to add an individual of Tom's caliber to our clinical team. He brings a wealth of experience in the infection prevention space that will assist us in continuing to develop a winning strategy to provide better workflow and reporting solutions for the infection prevention market," said Tim Gibbons, President and CEO of Pharmacy OneSource.
