International Placement Agency Picks Sacramento as U.S. Headquarters

“Internships Down Under” sees Opportunity with Sacramento-area College Students

Sacramento, CA, September 16, 2010 – INTERNSHIPS DOWN UNDER, WHICH HAS BEEN PLACING EUROPEAN STUDENTS IN INTERNSHIPS IN NEW ZEALAND AND AUSTRALIA FOR THREE YEARS, HAS ESTABLISHED ITS U.S. HEADQUARTERS IN SACRAMENTO.

“We listened to our clients who want Americans in their workplaces,” says Ronald Gardebroek, Managing Director of Intern Ltd in Auckland, New Zealand “and we’ve started sourcing from the U.S.” For example an international agricultural firm headquartered in Auckland is offering a 6-month internship to the right recent MBA - with the possibility of a job back in the States upon conclusion. Like “Kiwis” and Australians, Americans are native English-speakers and come from a common-law country.

With approximately 150,000 students at UC Davis, Sacramento State and Los Rios Community Colleges, “Sacramento is like the Boston of the West,” said Felicity Wood, Interns U.S. representative. “And with its walkable downtown, strong rugby and rowing presence, and nearby vineyards and big agriculture, students have a sense of what it would be like to live Down Under.“

“We’re especially in need of students and young professionals with skills in communications, marketing, market research, developing social media, SWOT analysis, and copywriting” said Mr. Gardebroek. Firms currently seeking interns are in the fields of education, immigration law, education, packaging, real estate, advertising, marine and amphibious equipment, tourism and recreation.

Internships Down Under is currently recruiting U.S. students and will be on the UC Davis campus, West Quad on September 30th from 11am to 2pm.
