Cooperation between ESCHA and the METZ CONNECT Group
Halver/Blumberg, 15 September 2010 - The German connectivity specialist ESCHA and METZ CONNECT have entered into a worldwide-, long-term partnership for the development and production of industrial Ethernet-Connectors. The cooperation aims at providing continuous transmission solutions between IT-wiring, the switching cabinet, and the field connections.ESCHA is contributing with its development competence in the field of M12x1 round connectors implementing its highly in-depth development- and production capabilities as well as its experience in standard products and high-grade specific solutions for the automation industry.
METZ CONNECT is bringing years of know-how of its subsidiary BTR NETCOM in the field of data transmission and wiring based on RJ-45- and FOC connectors as well as the know-how of the subsidiary RIA CONNECT in device connections and PCB male connectors.
“The goal of our partnership is to establish a continuous and high-grade transmission line from a device PCB via the system wiring to the IT-environment – and independent of applying M12, RJ-45 or FOC lines! Our partnership with ESCHA specially helps us with the development and production of M12-products”, explained Torsten Janwlecke, Managing Director of METZ CONNECT.
Driven by the latest standardization efforts (of IEC PAS 61076-2-109) to establish the M12x1 round connector as an 8-wire solution for GigaBit-Ethernet-Applications – and the increasing demand for a uniform IT-infrastructure based on Ethernet-protocols – both companies are going to build up a product programme in two phases meeting the aforementioned tasks.
From autumn 2010 and as a first phase, the cooperation partners will extend their existing product- and supply programme by a 4-pole M12x1 round connector-range which evidently meets the transmission power according to Cat6A. Thus, creating for the first time, 4-pole M12 junction- and connecting cables which can also be used for higher data rates in PROFINET or TCP/IP applications – regardless of whether in the device as a female connector or in the field wiring.
“Today’s 4-pole Ethernet-capable M12x1 round connectors have been primarily designed for their mechanical resistance and tightness in the field. However, data-technical transmission power is gaining more and more significance. With METZ CONNECT, we have found a good partner for related solutions”, reports Dietrich Turck, Managing Director of ESCHA Bauelemente GmbH.
Phase two of the common product programme will focus on further technically high-grade solutions which emphasise the 8-pole M12x1 round connector as a field-wireable male connector, as a device connection, and as ready-made cables. “Thus, in the course of next year, a comprehensive and future-orientated product programme for Industrial-Ethernet-Applications will be created and our customers, above all, will benefit from the pooling of our competencies”, agreed Turck and Janwlecke.
The new products are supposed to celebrate their premier at this year’s electronica trade-show in Munich and the SPS/IPC/DRIVES trade-show in Nuremberg.
ESCHA is a leading supplier in the field of connectivity and enclosure technology. The family enterprise has been developing and manufacturing in Halver, Germany for more than 25 years.
