American Nurse Today launches series of education handouts on immunization
American Nurse Today has launched the first in a series of immunization educational handouts for nurses as part of the American Nurses Association’s “Bringing immunity to every community” campaign (www.anaimmunize.org).One side of the colorful handout explains the importance of nurses getting vaccinated, while the other side details what vaccines nurses need and how often they need them. Nurses can easily remove the handout from September’s journal for future reference or download a copy at www.AmericanNurseToday.com
“Nurse need to keep current on their immunizations, including annual flu vaccines, to protect themselves, their patients, and their families,” says Pamela Cipriano, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN, Editor-in-Chief of American Nurse Today. “We are pleased to be working with the ANA on its effort to ensure vaccination of adults and children.”
The handouts are being made available through financial support from the American Nurses Association (as supported by Cooperative Agreement Number 1U01P000378-01 from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), and from Sanofi-Pasteur. The technical content is based on the recommendations of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practice.
The three remaining handouts will cover children and adolescents (November), adults (January 2011), and specific medical conditions (March 2011).
American Nurse Today reaches 175,000 nurses, including all members of ANA. In addition to keeping nurses abreast of ANA’s advocacy for the profession, American Nurse Today provides valuable, peer-reviewed, evidence based clinical, practical and career information that nurses can assimilate into their busy practices immediately.
