Visibility field analysis on commercial vehicles – does only the standard count?

Virtual Reality (VR) is becoming more and more important in business processes and, originally coming from the games industry, has developed into a tool used more and more in the manufacturing industry. Head-mounted displays (HMD's) enable companies to implement cost-effective virtual reality solutions.
The potential of this technology has also long been recognized in the vehicle and machine manufacturing industry, where virtual reality is increasingly being used to support construction, design reviews and product presentations.
But also safety-relevant aspects can be evaluated already during the product development process by means of VR. For example, in the development of commercial vehicles - as of earth-moving machinery, agricultural machinery, industrial trucks, etc. - the future driver's view of his working environment plays an important role in order to avoid accidents during subsequent operation of the vehicle.
For visibility field analysis - depending on industry and vehicle type - different standards exist for the evaluation of the direct and indirect field of vision (indirect = means visual aids, e.g. mirrors, camera-monitor systems, etc.).
