StorTrends IP-SAN Storage Solutions from American Megatrends Inc. (AMI) are powered by an elastic storage architecture, dynamic just-in-time provisioning, elegant manageability and stellar performance to offer a silver lining to any IT cloud infrastructure. While AMI relies on standard and proven technologies and standards like Linux and iSCSI to reduce costs and time-to-market (TTM), AMI’s value-add has always been in the careful and meticulous design of its storage software technology, exemplified by its flagship StorTrends iTX Network Storage Software. With its extensible management framework, StorTrends iTX offers seamless integration with VMware VCenter™ Server. StorTrends storage solutions utilize Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) hardware, such as the Supermicro 1U, 2U and 3U Intel®-based appliances demonstrated as part of the CloudMatrix virtualized data center platform at VMworld®, to guarantee the latest in hardware technology at the best possible price.

MDS Simple View, powered by MegaRAC® XMS (Extendible Management Server) from American Megatrends Inc. (AMI), is a complete management solution for centralized and collaborative management of monolithic and modular servers. It uses IPMI for server management and provides true remote manageability for any IPMI-enabled server. MDS Simple View features an intuitive, browser-agnostic Apache web interface on top of a SQLite database, to allow an administrator to easily and remotely manage servers using any standard web browser. MDS Simple View also supports CIM, WSMAN and SMASH for remote manageability. Moreover, MDS Simple View is an extendible platform that can also manage many other components in a typical data center, including switches, routers, printers, and more - bringing a unified and user-friendly management interface to a complex management task. MDS Simple View is available for both Linux and Microsoft® Windows™ server platforms.

Karriem Adams, Sr. Vice President of Global Sales of MDS Micro commented that “our engagement with AMI in further developing the CloudMatrix has been a great experience. AMI’s commitment to delivering industry-leading solutions in management and storage for the enterprise data center fits together perfectly with the vision that MDS Micro has cultivated bringing the CloudMatrix to life, and we look forward to further collaborations in this rapidly developing space.”

S. Shankar, President and CEO of American Megatrends, expressed his thoughts on AMI’s participation in this year’s event: “AMI is thrilled to be exhibiting at VMworld this year in partnership with MDS Micro. Virtualization and cloud computing remain the fastest growing segments in enterprise computing, and AMI has marked the development of solutions for virtualization and cloud computing as strategic focus points for each of our business units. This is one of the many reasons why it has been a great pleasure to engage with MDS Micro on the development of the CloudMatrix solution, as our goals and commitment to delivering compelling virtualized solutions for the cloud is in perfect alignment with those of MDS Micro.”

He added that “the flexibility and extensibility of both our MegaRAC XMS, which is the foundation of the SimpleView management engine of CloudMatrix, and StorTrends iTX, the storage management software of the Cloud Storage component of CloudMatrix, allowed these solutions to be incorporated into the CloudMatrix with the utmost ease. AMI is delighted to be engaged in the rising tide of innovation in virtualization and cloud computing, and looks forward to continuing its active role in these developments.”

American Megatrends warmly welcomes its customers, partners and media representatives to VMworld 2010 in San Francisco and invites attendees to visit Booth 1507 for demonstrations and detailed information on the CloudMatrix by MDS Micro - and the StorTrends IP-SAN storage solution and MegaRAC XMS management firmware that are an integral part of it.
