Press release from: Articulon

RALEIGH, N.C. (August 24, 2010) — The early registration deadline for the 2010 Magnificent Mile Race (magmilerace.com) is August 30. Participants who register for the competitive or recreational mile on or before this date can save as much as 25 percent on fees for the September 19 event. Registration options and fee structures are available at magmilerace.com/ feesdeadlines.php. Fees for participants under the age of 15 will remain at the discounted rate of $10 through race day.

The fifth annual Magnificent Mile Race is a fundraising event with a competitive and recreational run/walk, kids' races, entertainment, food and other fun activities. Proceeds will benefit the Spastic Paraplegia Foundation (www.sp-foundation.org), a nonprofit dedicated to finding a cure for rare upper motor neuron disorders. In its first four years, nearly 2,300 participants have helped raise more than $150,000 for research into upper motor neuron diseases.

"We like to offer our discounted registration fee as a gesture of gratitude to our valued participants,” says Sarah Roberts-Witt, organizer and inspiration behind The Magnificent Mile Race. “We are so thankful for their continued support in making our event a success.”

The Magnificent Mile Race is the first of the eight-race Second Empire Grand-Prix Fall Series and serves as the USATF North Carolina State one-mile championship. It is also part of Endurance Magazine's Race Without a Trace initiative, which encourages sustainable and environmentally conscious activities, and the NC-USATF-Endurance Magazine 2010 Long Distance Running Championship Series.
