Heidelberg, November 30, 2018 – In periodontology, fine, sharp instruments are essential, therefore scalers and curettes have to be constantly sharpened. Now the American Eagle patented XP® technology makes instrument tips much more durable and time-consuming sharpening is a thing of the past.

The alloys are applied to a stainless-steel base during the nano-optimised surface treatment. This results in an extremely hard instrument tip, while at the same time the process enables manufacturing thinner blades. Dr. Phillip Watson from the University of Toronto has been able to prove that XP® instruments are significantly more durable and resistant than standard products and therefore are an enormous improvement.

Moreover, the slim design means easier access to interdental spaces and periodontal pockets, therefore better results can be achieved while the patient's comfort level is increased. Thanks to the razor-sharp blades, the practitioner can reduce force and thus retains the tactile sensitivity.

In the American Eagle product range XP® technology is available for scalers, universal curettes and Gracey curettes. The instruments are available in the standard design with a stainless-steel handle or with an ergonomic EagleLite® handle that significantly reduces hand fatigue. Even more comfortable are the ultra-lightweight Pro Thin handles with extra fine working ends for a particularly gentle therapy.

Alternatively, the user can also select a Quik-Tip handle in the colour of his choice and chose an XP® instrument tip which is then solidly screwed into the handle using a specially designed wrench. This is environmentally friendly and saves costs, because not the entire instrument has to be replaced.

American Eagle Instruments® is a Young Innovations brand, a leading developer, manufacturer and distributor of high-quality dental products. The portfolio includes innovative solutions for prophylaxis, diagnostics, restoration, periodontology, implantology, endodontics and orthodontics and world-renowned brands like Young, Zooby®, Microbrush® and American Eagle Instruments®. The American corporation has its headquarters in Chicago and its European centre in Heidelberg, Germany. The enterprise was founded in 1900 and is owned by The Jordan Company.
