HaWi realised the largest public solar project in Greece
In the frame of the H2SusBuild program supported by the EU, the HaWi subsidiary HAWI Renewables SA realised the largest public solar project up to now in Greece by order of the Technical University of Athens (NTUA). The prestigious object is a good example for a successful combination of historic architecture and solar energy production. The tender was carried out under the direction of Prof. Ioannis Paspaliaris of the NTUA accepting the concept of HaWi Renewables SA which managed to prevail. As general contractor the Greek subsidiary of the German company HaWi Energietechnik AG was responsible for the planning and the project management of this first project in the historic technology park of Lavrio. Within four weeks, the sub-contractor Electrotech realised the installation of the plant in May 2010 and will be responsible for the maintenance on site. 624 thin-film panels with CIGS technology, six SMA SMC 8000TL inverters and 19 generator connection boxes of the company EnWi-Etec GmbH were installed. For a first period of five years, the HAWI monitoring system combined with Meteocontrol Weblog Pro DSL will monitor the 47 kWp plant making available on-line the measured data and simulations during this time.HaWi Energietechnik AG is a leading wholesaler and system provider for environmental technology mainly specialized in photovoltaics. The most important fields are planning and B2B sales for solar systems, combined heat and power units and small wind power plants. In addition, HaWi develops and produces own system components for the installation and the operation of solar power plants. At present, HaWi employs more than 240 staff members.

There are several different…
EDF and Iberdrola Buybacks Suggest Renewables Upturn
By Peter Kneller
The European renewable energy sector has not had a particularly happy time of late. Over the past few years renewable energy production has been battered by the effect of poor wind speeds. It has also been haunted by regulatory uncertainty as cash-strapped governments re-think generous subsidy regimes. Spain, for instance, at the end of last year applied retro-active changes to its pre-existing solar incentives.
A combination of…
