Comprehensive study: Top 100 companies that dominate the Turkish e-commerce market

The “Turkey Top 100 E-Commerce Players 2010” report published by Hamburg-based market research firm yStats.com provides a comprehensive ranking of the top 100 Turkish e-commerce players. At the same time it highlights the positive trends that have been observed in recent years about the Turkish e-commerce market:

The number of internet users in Turkey was already estimated as high as 32 million in 2009, which accounts for 42 % of the entire population. In line with these numbers the revenue generated in the B2C segment of the e-commerce market grew from 2.4 billion YTL (approx. 1.2 billion €) in 2006 to 10.3 billion YTL (approx. 5.3 billion €) in 2009 and the number of associated transactions from 21.7 million in 2006 to 66.5 million in 2009.

Top 100 Turkish e-commerce companies
yStats.com‘s comprehensive ranking published in its latest “Turkey Top 100 E-Commerce Players 2010“ report was compiled based on the number of unique visitors and the audience reach of the analyzed e-commerce websites. Each company is profiled with selected facts including product range and revenue figures. The ranking comprises internet sites in a variety of categories: online marketplace Sahibinden.com is at the top of the list, while auction platform Gittigidiyor.com clinched second place. Online retailer Hepsiburada.com ranks in third place after having generated revenue of 112 million € in 2008 with more than 180,000 products in different categories. Ticket company Biletix.com counted more than 1 million registered users in 2008 (estimate) and came in 15th place. Food delivery portal Yemeksepeti.com took 21st place with revenue of 49 million € and more than 15,000 orders/day. Also included in the ranking are the private shopping platforms Markafoni and Limango, both of which are only accessible to registered users. Markafoni was founded in 2008 as the first Turkish company of its kind, whereas Limango, a subsidiary of the German OTTO Group, entered the Turkish market only in 2009.
