Press release from: Wall Spring Collective

Clarksville, Tennessee based Legends Bank forged signatures and altered mail to defraud Gallatin resident and keep her in illegal loan according to lawsuit.

According to a lawsuit filed June 15, 2018 in Sumner County, Legends Bank spent years charging interest on an illegal loan and has now obtained a court order allowing the bank to evict a single mother and her two disabled daughters from the home secured by the mortgage. The loan was sought from Legends Bank in order for the family to purchase a historic home as both a residence and business. The oldest daughter was born with a lifelong developmental disability and the youngest daughter is diagnosed with a rare chronic neurological disease for which there is no known cure, making it necessary for their mother to care for them and work from home. Due to several complaints about the bank, including promises made to induce the signing of loan documents, a complaint was filed with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) under which Legends Bank is regulated. During this process exhibits submitted by Legends Bank revealed that signatures were forged to several documents and the bank had altered documents sent through the United States Postal Service. While that complaint was under consideration by the FDIC, the bank secretly and unlawfully foreclosed on the property. The Sumner County Circuit Court lawsuit followed. At a recent court hearing, the bank sought possession of the family home and business due to a detainer warrant purportedly served on the property, and the bank now seeks to remove the family from their home.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help the Ransom family pay their legal fees. To learn more about their story or to donate, please visit https://www.gofundme.com/savewallspring1.
