Raleigh pest control company adds bed bug inspection dog to the team

Press release from: Triangle Pest Control

Triangle Pest Control is pleased to announce the addition of a new team member: Scout, a specially-trained bed bug detection dog. A recent study shows that while humans can accurately detect 30% of bed bug infestations, canines are able to sniff out 95%, making canine scent detection a much more effective method of identifying infestations.

"Bed bugs aren't difficult to treat -- they're difficult to find," says Triangle Pest Control CEO Donnie Shelton. The Raleigh company plans to use canine scent detection during bed bug inspections both before and after treatment. Once the dog identifies areas of bed bug activity, Triangle Pest Control technicians are able to target treatments where they are needed most. After treatment, the company plans to bring Scout in for a return visit to ensure that all bed bugs have been eliminated.

Scout is a Jack Russell terrier who received his training at J&K Canine Academy in Florida. He keeps his skills fresh with twice-daily training sessions.

With the addition of Scout, Triangle Pest Control plans to increase the effectiveness of their sought-after Bed Bug Free program. Bed bug infestations in Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill and the entire Triangle area are on the rise; the company sees their new canine scent detection capabilities as another way to serve this growing need.
