Happy Birthday Hotel Berlin, Berlin
Looking back at such a great history and at the same time being creative and innovative is something that this house incorporates every day. The hotel combines a long tradition with modern settings. It can look back at an exciting past and towards a promising future.
Many heads of State have chosen the Hotel Berlin for their stay on the “Island of Freedom” as West Berlin used to be called. Celebrities like Hildegard Knef, Jesse Owens or Richard Burton valued the warm welcome at the hotel.
The biggest present on this special day comes from the hotel itself. In the past four years, 26 million euros have been invested in converting the building. The lobby has been given a brand new appearance, while the majority of the rooms and suites have been completely redesigned and equipped with state-of-the-art technology. An in-room entertainment system with HDTV and high-speed internet is standard in every room. Depending on the occasion and requirements, the interior of the rooms is tailored to businesspeople, families, groups, VIPs and even heads of state.
The Hotel Berlin, Berlin is the only building in the city to have established an exclusive Airline Crew Lounge. The comfortably laid out lounge, which has been designed specially for airline crews, is the perfect place for stewards and pilots to sit back and relax or, for example, surf the internet for free.
The conversion of the former Kurfürstensuite to the 95 m² Business Suite Berlin, Berlin will add an attractive conclusion within the building's redevelopment this spring.
On the Birthday, guests get a self-made vanilla-asparagus-jam. This special recipe created our Executive Souschef, Björn Brückner.
The perfect location in the heart of the city and the passion for hospitality have made the Hotel an important part of the Berlin experience.

Fluoridation's Unhappy Birthday
New York – January 25 -- Sixty-three years ago, January 25, 1945, sodium fluoride was slowly poured into Grand Rapids, Michigan’s public water supply to prove that fluoridation reduces children’s tooth decay. Nearby Muskegon was left fluoridation-free as the experiment’s control city for comparison purposes. The study failed; but early fluoridationists ignored this inconvenient truth. Named a “demonstration project” so as not to alarm residents about what was actually occurring, the experiment
