Registration for the EuSEC 2010 conference

Systems Engineering, a profession generally associated with putting satellites into space or creating the newest car models, will look toward the themes of innovation in all kind of industries during its upcoming European Systems Engineering conference.

Between the 23rd and 26th of May 2010, the European Countries, Israel, Turkey, Russia and South Africa chapters of the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) will hold its 7th bi-annual European Systems Engineering Conference (EuSEC 2010) in Stockholm, Sweden. The theme for EuSEC 2010 is “Systems Engineering and Innovation”, addressing the expanding scope of Systems Engineering application and responsibility in all kind of industries.
A total of 28 world class technical papers have been selected from close to 100 submissions. The programme includes challenging and though provoking sessions on System Thinking, Innovation and Education; sessions on innovations and best practice in Architecture, Requirements, Risk and Cost, System Modelling and Lifecycles Approach; and sessions covering new Systems Engineering challenges such as Lean, Agile and Model Based Systems Engineering, Integrated Development Environments; and the establishment of a new Systems Engineering Body of Knowledge. The programme includes papers from over 20 countries representing Europe, North and South America, Africa and Asia. Presenters represent Academia, Industry and Government from different domains ranging from Defence and Aerospace, Construction and Infrastructure, Space, Manufacture, Medical to Fisheries.

The programme also includes special sessions focusing of the academic, research and industrial dimensions of Systems Engineering. In addition, highly reputed keynote speakers, attend one of four free tutorials and technical tours, and last but not least socialize at the reception and banquet. Dr. Gunnar Hult is one of the keynote speakers and will deliver a speech about “Innovative Thinking in Arms Acquisition”. Dr. Gunnar Hult is the deputy of the Swedish National Armaments Director, Chief Scientist at the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (the Swedish Armed Forces Procurement Agency), and adjunct professor in Military Technology at the Swedish National Defence College.

The International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) is a not-for-profit membership organization founded to advance the art and practice of systems engineering by helping individuals and enterprises turn complexity into competitive advantage. INCOSE has grown significantly since its formation in 1990. Today, there are over six thousand members representing a broad spectrum – from student to senior practitioner, from technical engineer to program and corporate management, from science and engineering to business development. Members work together to advance their technical knowledge, exchange ideas with colleagues, and collaborate to advance systems engineering. Its individual members are affiliated with over 50 chartered chapters or national societies worldwide which are organized in Regions. The chapters, volunteer committees, and working groups provide the energy and direction for the organization. In addition, nearly 60 international enterprises from industry, academia, and government participate in INCOSE. The industries represented include aerospace, space, automotive, defence, electronics, energy, general machine building, health, IT, mining, ship building and transport.
