Q4 2016 Global Refinery Maintenance Review - High Unplanned Maintenance in the Americas

Globally, more than 40 refineries witnessed maintenance (planned and unplanned) across 56 units in Q4 2016. Planned maintenance accounted for 60% of the maintenance in the quarter and the remaining was unplanned. Among regions, North America had the highest capacity under both planned and unplanned maintenance. Among countries, the US and Saudi Arabia had the highest capacity under planned maintenance in the quarter. Equipment issues and fire were the major factors for unplanned maintenance globally. Other factors include leakage and power outage.
