Brentwood Behavioral Healthcare Employees Help Save Patient’s Life
Mental health technicians Trisha White and Mitchell Pulley
Mental health technicians Trisha White and Mitchell Pulley overheard a patient coughing in the cafeteria and soon realized the patient was choking. The pair swiftly took control of the situation and Pulley successfully dislodged the food utilizing the Heimlich maneuver.
“Without their quick response, the patient could have suffered severe medical complications,” said Dr. John Wilkaitis, chief medical officer at Brentwood Behavioral.
Neither White nor Pulley had ever been in a situation like this before where they experienced someone choking. They credit the ongoing training they receive at Brentwood Behavioral Healthcare in being able to quickly assess the situation and properly administer the Heimlich maneuver.
