Compatible to all GigE Vision cameras: The new HALCON interface runs accurately and without problems with any GigE Vision hardware.

MVTec Software GmbH, Munich (Germany), has released a new interface for GigE Vision for the standard machine vision software HALCON. This interface was tested with numerous GigE Vision cameras and is validated as GigE Vision compliant.

HALCON is a leading software library for machine vision worldwide. GigE Vision is a data transmission standard developed together with the American “Automated Imaging Association” (AIA). The new HALCON interface for GigE Vision not only provides the benefits of this Ethernet protocol, but also employs a specific filter driver under Windows for a considerably enhanced performance. Moreover, it integrates the newest version of the programming and configuration interface standard GenICam. “Our new HALCON interface for GigE Vision was successfully tested by a large number of different cameras, including cameras from all major manufacturers in the machine vision market”, says MVTec’s product manager Christoph Zierl.

Soon after its initial release, GigE Vision has succeeded in the machine vision market. GigE Vision considerably increases the ease of handling of the communication protocol “Gigabit Ethernet” and allows the fast and safe transfer of image data to computers also by using long and inexpensive standard wires. By GigE Vision, different vendors’ hardware and software are able to communicate without any problems or additional effort.

From the customers’ point of view, the HALCON interface for GigE Vision provides the benefit to be manufacturer independent and to be able to master long ways of signal transfer. Moreover, the user does not need frame grabbers for image acquisition. The HALCON interface for GigE Vision was not only accurately tested by MVTec itself and its partners within the MVTec Image Acquisition Partner Program, it was also officially verified by the AIA and validated as GigE Vision compliant. The Interface is available for Windows and Linux, also in each case for x64 architectures.
