Psychiatric Solutions, Inc. (PSI) Honored

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – March 15, 2010 – Ron McClure, chief information officer for Psychiatric Solutions, Inc. (PSI) and former Army National Guard aviator, was presented the Patriotic Employer Award by the Employer Support of Guard and Reserve (ESGR) today at PSI’s corporate headquarters in Franklin. The award was presented by Carl Lambert, Middle Tennessee ESGR area chairman.

The presentation stems from a nomination by McClure’s employee, Bradley D. Hibbs, a veteran with many mobilizations as a Master Sergeant with the 118th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron, Tennessee Air National Guard in Nashville. Master Sgt. Hibbs summed up his comments by providing this statement:

“Ron has been extremely flexible in permitting me time off to fulfill my obligation as a Senior NCO [noncommissioned officer] and a member of the Aeromedical Evacuation Community. My responsibilities are great, and often require much more time than the standard ‘one weekend per month and two weeks a year.’ Ron has never balked at my time-off requests and has encouraged my service. The company has recently decided to continue my salary when I am on short periods of active duty which has made it a lot easier on my family and our budget. The support for the service member does not stop with my supervisor. The company has launched a new program, PSI Patriot Support, to support the mental health of the warrior and their families. See www.psipatriotsupport.com for further information on the program.”

Due to the continuing global war on terror, Master Sgt. Hibbs has had to be away from his job numerous times to fulfill his military requirements. McClure has been overly supportive of his service as a “Citizen Warrior” and assures him of his support to him and all men and women who serve their country in our military.

Based on the comments of Master Sgt. Hibbs, Psychiatric Solutions, Inc. (PSI) was given the ESGR Above and Beyond Award. This award was presented to Joey Jacobs, chairman, president and chief executive officer of PSI. Jacobs also signed the ESGR Statement of Support which proclaims that his organization will continue to provide encouragement and support to their employees who serve our country in the National Guard and Reserve. The Above and Beyond Award is given to businesses and organizations who have demonstrated their policies concerning support of our National Guardsmen and Reservists go well beyond the requirements of the Uniformed Services Employment Reemployment Rights Act. In the past 16 months, only 26 Above and Beyond Awards have been presented in this region, which includes 24 counties from Kentucky to Alabama.

Since September 11, 2001, more than 600,000 National Guard and Reserve men and women across the United States have left their families and employers to serve on active duty in the global war on terror. Many of these deployed Guard and Reserve members serve, work and live in the Middle Tennessee area. None of this could have been possible without the strong backing from civilian employers of the brave men and women who serve this great nation and the state of Tennessee.

The Department of Defense established the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) in 1972 to promote cooperation and understanding between Reserve component members and their civilian employers, and to assist in the resolution of conflicts arising from an employee’s military commitment. Local members are volunteers and are more than willing to recognize community businesses for supporting their National Guard and Army Reserve employees while performing military duty.
