Lieutenant General Joseph Anderson, Deputy Chief of Staff G3/5/7, US Army has confirmed his participation at the Defence Safety Conference, taking place in London, United Kingdom on the 1st and 2nd October 2018.
He will be briefing on: ‘The Importance of Safety in Enhancing Us Army Operational Capability’

Covering:

• The cost of getting it wrong (to life, reputation, capability and/or environment)
• Examples of what works in ensuring the ‘Safe to Operate’ and ‘Operate Safely’
• The importance of leadership in promoting a Safety Culture
• The impact of ‘miss-matches’ - i.e. between demand and supply (especially suitably qualified and experienced personnel), currency, competency and recency of field experience and how budgetary constraints affect this.

• Getting governance of Safety right

This conference is the first of its kind, with a specific focus on aviation, land and maritime safety.

When describing the event Lt Gen Richard Felton said:

“The aim of the Conference is to identify and promote ‘what works’ and discuss ‘how we can do better’. Essentially, this includes the safe delivery of defence capabilities and the parts that operational users, equipment and service delivery organisations and research and development play in defence safety. I hope we will identify good practice and those who procure, provide and operate Defence equipment and services will benefit.”
