Schneider Electric backs Next-Gen innovators
The Scholar Grid Challenge, held at PC Kinyanjui Technical Training Institute, convened trainees for a rigorous competition aimed at designing a 10kVA renewable energy electrification system for under 5000. Two teams showcased their innovations to a panel jury, highlighting their commitment to driving impactful change in the renewable energy sector.
In the competition's early stage, trainees were assigned to create a concept note and received guidance from seasoned Schneider Electric experts. This mentorship enhanced their grasp of renewable energy systems and cultivated a collaborative atmosphere, effectively bridging classroom learning with real-world industry experience.
"We are immensely proud of the strides we have made with the Scholar Grid Challenge. Working alongside these outstanding participants as they confront real-world issues in renewable energy electrification has been a truly fulfilling experience for our mentors," remarked Ifeanyi Odoh, Country President at Schneider Electric Kenya.

Nancy Njui, the School Principal at PC Kinyanjui, acknowledged the significant impact of the competition on the trainees. She emphasized that the competition not only challenged the trainees academically but also fostered their teamwork, critical thinking, and personal growth.

The victorious team will be awarded an extra $5,000 as a cash prize to support their future projects.
