ATLANTA, GEORGIA - American Megatrends (AMI) is pleased to announce that its AMIBIOS®8 & Aptio®4.x products feature support for the recently expanded Intel® Core™ i3, i5 and i7 processor series.

In conjunction with announcements from Intel of additions and updates to their popular Intel® Core™ processor family, AMIBIOS8 & Aptio 4.x from AMI now support the complete range of each of these processor series.

Intel® Core™ i3, i5 and i7 processors feature the latest, smartest and fastest processors from Intel, delivering outstanding intelligent performance for multitasking, editing digital video, gaming and more. The culmination of 40 years of technology leadership, Intel Core processors are the foundation for reliable, responsive, energy-efficient PCs that will continue to satisfy and perform in the years ahead.

S. Shankar, President and CEO of American Megatrends, offered this comment: “As a long-standing member of the Intel® Embedded Alliance, we are proud to announce our continued support for the expanded Intel Core processor series. The growth of the Intel Core lineup enables even greater adoption of AMI firmware solutions, using both traditional BIOS and UEFI implementations for the Intel Core processor series. AMI remains committed to market leadership in firmware solutions for the consumer computing space and to ensuring that our AMIBIOS and Aptio offerings satisfy the most rigorous demands of this rapidly evolving market segment.”

AMIBIOS8 is built around Visual eBIOS (VeB), the innovative development environment designed specifically for BIOS porting. VeB was released with the original AMIBIOS8 in 2001 and continues to simplify BIOS development worldwide by removing barriers normally associated with BIOS development in the command line environment. Aptio builds on that experience, providing next- generation BIOS firmware based on Unified EFI (UEFI) and the Intel® Platform Innovation Framework for EFI.

AMIBIOS8 & Aptio 4.x evaluation BIOS for Intel Customer Reference Boards are available now. Interested parties are encouraged to contact AMI’s Software Sales Department for details.
