The August Bank Holiday weekend is one of those dates we all look forward to in the calendar. As a chance to enjoy a long weekend in the summer sun, it's the perfect opportunity to get out of the house and soak up a taste of local life. For those local to the Hythe region, there is even the chance to enjoy a literal taste of local life, with the third annual We Love Hythe Life Food Festival (http://www.welovehythelife.co.uk/) to take place at Hythe Cricket Club.
This year's event - which is free to attend - will see more than 70 food and drink stalls featuring culinary experts from across Kent, as well as live entertainment, craft stands, and the popular 'Festiv-ale' - a specially brewed ale exclusive to festival. Among those gastronomic professionals to be present at the event will be Graham Green (https://www.thechefsforum.co.uk/chef-of-the-week-graham-green-chef-proprietor-of-chives-catering/), chef proprietor of Chives Caterers, who will be demonstrating unique cookery skills including the preparation of kangaroo dishes.
"I am really looking forward to my demonstration alongside some awesome local chefs such as John Bingley from the Hythe Imperial," said Graham. "The Food Festival is a great way to meet local producers and suppliers and try new ingredients as well as catching up with fellow chefs.
"We always support local but on this occasion I will be bringing a bit of Australia to the table, demonstrating some kangaroo and of course an opportunity for the audience to try some. It's an ingredient we use a lot - one of our weddings served kangaroo hot pot to their guests last week and it was a huge success and wow factor."
