100% Norway 2006 is a joint effort between the Royal Norwegian Embassy, Innovation Norway, award-winning firm of architects Snøhetta, home and lifestyle company Løvetann, Norwegian Design Council, InsideNorway.no and influential design magazine Blueprint. The entire 100% Norway 2006 exhibition is centred around the coming Løvetann by Snøhetta homes, Bloom and Lucida. This is the first international appearance of the customisable, environmentally-friendly modular home.

The 100% Norway exhibition was opened Wednesday night by the Norwegian Crown Princess Her Highness Mette-Marit. In a speech to the 500+ guests she praised Norwegian design and especially the commitment and innovation of Snøhetta and Løvetann. Her highness was given a tour of the exhibition and discussed the objects on display with the designers.

Blueprint used the opportunity to launch the redesign of their world famous magazine with guests and media from around the world. Live music and free drinks from VikingFjords Vodka gave everyone a smile and brought the party to a good temperature.

The 100% Norway exhibition presents a preview of the two coming Løvetann homes; Bloom and Lucida, which will begin sales to the UK and European market in the beginning of 2007.

These two new homes are a collaboration between Snøhetta and two designers, So Takahashi and Viel Bjerkeset Andersen. The homes tackle the difficult task of living well in a small space. Each of the homes are 86 msq built out of 4 modules and are design for a family of three. A preview of some of the design from these two new homes can be seen in the 100% Norway Løvetann pavilion.

The Løvetann modular home is designed by the world-renowned and prize winning architects Snøhetta whose long list of architectural achievements includes Egypt’s Bibliotheca Alexandrina and the forthcoming Cultural Center for New York’s World Trade Center. The firm is recognized for its comprehensive approach to architecture. Snøhetta emphasizes the total built environment, not just material and structure. This approach lends itself well to Løvetanns concept, where the interaction of the inhabitants with their home is of utmost importance. Together, Løvetann and Snøhetta set out to create customized homes that would be a direct reflection of each owner’s desires, and would foster a collaborative relationship between owner and builder. Of primary importance in the development of the Løvetann home are sustainability and longevity, both of which provide mutual benefit to the homeowner and the environment. These qualities are achieved through the use of resilient building materials.

The construction was developed with simplicity in mind. Aluminium columns and beams form a grid frame consisting of 4.8m x 4.8m sections. The standard sizing allows for additions and removals with no impact to the overall structure. Modular panels dress the aluminium frame, with a single unit serving as both the interior and exterior wall. With this the home lends itself to easy on-site construction.

Løvetann promotes an environmentally conscious lifestyle by utilising renewable, recyclable materials, and integrated technologies. With respect for the environment, Løvetann emphasises longevity and efficiency.
