Press release from: Imperato Brooks 2008

West Palm Beach, FL – September 20, 2006 – From the halls of the United Nations General Assembly, 2008 Independent President Candidate Daniel Imperato responded to the inflammatory remarks made by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez during today's UN session.

"I stand up today from the United Nations General Assembly in New York and call out today to the people of the USA., Venezuela, Hugo Chavez, and the rest of the world to take a moment and reflect on his harsh statements made against our President George W. Bush.."

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez called George W. Bush "the devil himself" at the U.N. General Assembly on Wednesday, saying the U.S. president had left the smell of sulfur hanging in the chamber from his appearance the previous day.

"I would like Mr. Chavez to realize that the American people should not be categorized and punished because of his dislikes for our President George W. Bush. While I have my own opinions about the diplomacy being used by the administration, today I reserve the right to say to President Chavez that America has been a great ally to Venezuela and a great supporters of Venezuela for many decades. There is a need to keep freedom, unity, and peace between Venezuela, the United States, and all of Latin America."

Imperato recognized that a Bush-Chavez meeting is unlikely, however, Imperato offered to meet with Chavez personally to help mend US-Venezuelan Relations.

"It would be more beneficial to elaborate in a diplomatic atmosphere exchanging views face to face between leaders but unfortunately I understand that that's not possible between our outgoing President Bush and President Chavez. I ask Mr. Chavez to openly accept a diplomatic meeting with me pertaining to his dislikes of our administration and our President"

Chavez' comments in Imperato's view have been hurtful to Hispanics living here in America.

"I call on President Chavez to remind him that America's second language is Spanish and that indirectly he is hurting the American people especially the Spanish speaking American people. His comments are creating unnecessary friction between the great ally of the United States of America and the great country of Venezuela."

Imperato also felt that he would be able reach out for President Chavez with mutual respect and that the start of his new administration in 2009 could be a fresh start for both nations.

"I call on President Chavez to realize that George W. Bush's post is up in 2008 and that I hope to be the first Independent President in the USA. I hope and pray that I am able to meet with President Chavez to lay the foundation to revive relations and to recognize the differences of opinions between our two countries. I would like to analyze with Hugo Chavez how to make the Americans safer, increase trade, create more jobs, and to respect his views and opinions mutually and beneficially. My plan for the next administration in the USA is to have an ear for the President of Venezuela and to acknowledge the fact that discontent will only create more discontent."

In addition, Imperato also called for the unification of all Central and Latin American nations with the United States.

"Mark my words, this situation needs to be nipped in the bud and diplomacy needs to be utilized in full-force. I am willing to personally step out to meet with President Chavez to pave the future roadway to the reunification of relations between the US, Venezuela, and the South American nations."

Imperato concluded his remarks with the following, "I look forward to the opportunity to lead the USA, revive America, analyze all points of view, good or bad, and to stand tall in front anyone who is categorizing America unjustly based upon opinion and willing to challenge and respond to the opinion with mutual beneficial respect."
