Multi-Simulation and External CAE Solver Interfaces with FEATool Multiphysics
The FEATool Multiphysics (https://www.featool.com) external solver and multi-simulation interface makes it easy to use different CAE and physics simulation solvers. By only setting up a model once in FEATool one can save significant amounts of time and effort to run several solvers for the same test case. At the same time FEATool eliminates the need for learning how to use different solver packages, as model and mesh conversion and export, external solver control, and re-import is all handled automatically from either the GUI or Matlab m-script files. This feature can also assist with validation of simulations comparing results from different solvers.
The presented test case compares the dedicated OpenFOAM computational fluid dynamics (CFD) solver, FEniCS general finite element analysis (FEA) solver, and the FEATool Multiphysics solver for a fluid dynamics benchmark problem. Note that no knowledge of either OpenFOAM or FEniCS is required.
