29th August 2006, Berlin (Germany) – At IBC 2006 Hall 1, booth 176, dicas, the German MPEG video coding specialist, will introduce a brand new version of its MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 encoder, the dicas 2010, demonstrating end-to-end interoperability with a variety of industry leading Set-Top Boxes.

The dicas 2010 is designed for broadcasters, operators and enterprises delivering IPTV and Streaming services requiring reliability, flexibility, quality and precision. Together with the dicas 2015, a professional, one rack-unit broadcast-quality advanced decoder, it creates a perfect end-to-end solution for broadcast distribution and contribution, which will also be demonstrated at IBC 2006 (8 – 12 September, Amsterdam).

This sophisticated, high performance encoder is a professional broadcast-quality advanced video encoding and streaming 1 rack-unit solution. The dicas 2010 convinces with an outstanding picture quality at lower bit-rates and highest reliability for 24/7 usage. The encoding solution from dicas delivers one SD channel of variable bit rate (VBR) or constant bit rate (CBR) MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 video (progressive and interlaced coding) and MPEG-4 audio. It also provides MPEG-4 Advanced Simple Profile (ASP) up to Level 5.

The dicas 2015 is a robust, error resilient high-performance decoder, which delivers unmatched results in any broadcast contribution and distribution environment supporting MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 (Baseline, Main and High Profile) and MPEG-4 (Advanced Simple Profile and Simple Profile) on the video side as well as MPEG-4 AAC on the audio side.

The list price for the dicas 2010 encoder is Euro 5,900 (analogue) and Euro 6,500 (SDI and analogue). The list price of the dicas 2015 decoder is Euro 4,900.
