Transport to and from China is booming, both on sea and in the air. For example, airfreight is predicted to increase from 12 to 15 percent annually in the near future. Messe München is holding transport logistic China and Air Cargo China in the Shanghai New International Expo Centre dealing with all topics concerned with transport and associated logistics from September 19 to 22 this year for the second time.

Parallel to the strong sales growth in container transport with China, airfreight volume is also increasing, because the time-savings with this transport means are a decisive criterion for many high-quality and sensitive products. Increased passenger traffic is also a factor, which is being dealt with. For example, Singapore Airlines is entering the carrier business with its cargo line “Great Wall”.
The Lufthansa Cargo AG is doing the same; it is sending its first Boeing with the Chinese characters for “Jade Cargo International” into the flight competition at the beginning of August. This is a joint venture, in which Lufthansa has a 25 percent share, DEG (German Investment and Development Corporation) 24 percent, and the Chinese partner 51 percent. The line has its hub in Shenzhen and its gateway in Amsterdam. A substantial network of logistics facilities have been installed at both destinations, because airfreight cannot go anywhere without corresponding ground transport. Trucks make up the decisive link between sender and receiver in the air cargo business.

As the press officer of Lufthansa Cargo Nils Haupt confirmed, the company will be represented with Jade Cargo International at transport logistic China at a partner booth for the first time. Vice President Reto Hunziker hopes that the Chinese airline “will soon become established in the European market with lean structures, simple processes and professional partners.”
The line has been serving airports in Amsterdam and Seoul from its hub in south-eastern China since the beginning of August. A substantial trucking network also connects the hub with Hong Kong and Guangzhou as well as Amsterdam with all European metropolises.
