Ems helps renters find their perfect home

Former Countrywide boss, Bob Scarff, has become the lead investor in Ems, a digital search agent using artificial intelligence to make it easier for people to find properties. Scarff invested in Ems in December alongside many top property and early-stage technology investors.

Scarff said of the announcement, “I’ve lost count of the number of prop-tech start-ups that I’ve been approached by in the past two years since I left Countrywide. Most of them had good ideas or a good implementation team. Ems has both, and that’s why I have invested.”

“Ems will deliver a much better experience for customers, and will help estate agents generate low-cost, high-quality, pre- qualified leads better than anyone else in the market. Agents will save time, save money and be able to deliver a better service.” he continued.

Until May 2015, Scarff was responsible for the 800 branches of the Countrywide network outside London. He left Countrywide in a reorganisation that marked the beginning of a wholesale change in senior management at the UK’s largest property services group.

He will also be acting as an advisor to Ems, helping them to develop their offer for estate agents. Ems currently offers services for free to lettings agents in London, and they are looking to roll out across the country in the second half of this year.

Ems CEO and founder, Alex Sullivan said, “It still takes a huge amount of time and effort to find the right place to live, renters feel that nobody is on their side. Ems focuses on what the customer really wants: we make moving house exciting and give people back their precious time. Every feature puts renters first, from promoting properties based on what’s best for them to helping them save money and time. We are already working with leading estate agents to create a place where great agents and great renters can meet.
