IIM Ahmedabad- A Rise in Fee Yet Again
IIM Ahmedabad is one of the most sought-after colleges for all the MBA aspirants across the world, every year countless students dream to be a part of this institute but only a few get through.The director of IIM Ahmedabad Prof Erol Disouza on Saturday yet again hiked the fee of its flagship postgraduate program (PGP) for the academic year 2018-20 from 21Lkh to 22Lkh, he announced this decision during the press meet on the sidelines of the 53rd Convocation held at the IIM-A campus.
Quoting Prof Erol Disouza “There was a discussion with regard to the fee. Like every year, there will be a rise in fee. In line with inflation, we shall be raising it by 5%. For PGP program the new fee will be Rs22 lakh for two years. There will be 5% increase in PGPX (Post Graduate Program for Executives) fee as well,” he reasoned inflation as the decision taken by the IIM-A board on fee hike.
There was a hike in the fee last year as well, the board increased the fee to 21lkh from 19.5lkh for its PGP Program
The postgraduate program (PGP) of IIM Ahmedabad is regarded as the hardest nut to crack. The candidates are selected through their performance in Common Entrance Test (CAT) followed by GD/PI.
Further, in his convocation address, he underscored some facts "The diversity fairy has -- if I may say so -- begun to infect the campus. In terms of educational background, non-engineers were 32% of the students in the PGP - the highest ever in more than 15 years, in the PGP- FABM non-engineers were 45% of the students,” he said
"In terms of gender diversity the PGP saw 28% women joining the program in 2017 - an increase from the 14% figure of 2015. Similarly, the PGP-FABM saw 50% women joining the program in 2017. This year 50 percent of the graduating students from the FPM are male," he added.
The guest of the day at IIM-A 53rd convocation held on Saturday 24th March was Janmejaya Sinha, Chairman, Boston consulting group the Asia Pacific, he shared his 6 life lessons while addressing the students.
