Phenol Restricted Under European Toy Safety Directive
The European Union (EU) has published new restrictions on the use of phenol (CAS 108-95-2) in toys falling under Appendix C of Annex II in Directive 2009/48/EC, the so-called European Toy Safety Directive (TSD). Issued on May 4, 2017, Directive (EU) 2017/774 establishes two sets of limits for phenol: • No more than 5 mg/L for migration from polymeric materials • No more than 10 mg/kg for content when used as a preservative These
