Journalists, media executives, peacebuilders and others are invited to participate in a one-day symposium of conversations on peace, conflict and the media.
War Stories Peace Stories brings together an unusual mix of internationally known journalists, and peacebuilders to explore the challenges and potential of conflict reporting in contributing to peace. Award-winning journalist and filmmaker Sebastian Junger will deliver a keynote, and Melanie Greenberg, CEO of the Alliance for Peace will serve as the emcee.
Three panels of exceptional journalists and peacebuilders will focus on the role of international conflict reporting in a changing marketplace; the importance of underrepresented points of view and perspectives; and the value of different approaches to conflict reporting.
In addition, Robert Rosenthal of the Center for Investigative Reporting and New Yorker staff writer Alexis Okeowo will participate in a wide-ranging conversation about new approaches to telling the stories of people and communities in extreme circumstances.
Finally, three finalists from the Pitching for Peace Competition sponsored by the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting will deliver their pitches live to a panel of judges and a winning pitch will be selected for an additional grant.
