Market Entry into Italy
Solea AG announced the commencement of the construction of a solar park in Bari Province, Puglia Region, Southern Italy on 21th of September in cooperation with its partner ON-OFF/Western Co. The solar facility with a power of 3.83 MWp covers a ground area of approximately 20 ha and is devided into 4 parts. The construction of the solar park is expected to be completed at the end of November. The facility will be grid connected in 2009.The mounting system and the screw foundation is produced by PV-Eiwa Systemtechnik GmbH & Co.KG, the sister company of Solea AG. The single axis tracking system of Western Co has been specifically modified to adjusts to the local terrain conditions and optimize the yield.
The solar park is expected to produce more than 5,360 megawatt hours electricity. The environmentally friendly technology of the system saves more than 5,300 tons of carbon dioxide each year. The solar electricity production equals the average electricity consumption of 1,340 households with 4 persons each.
Solea AG, located in Plattling, 150 km north-east of Munich, constructs and maintains turnkey solar parks with up to double-digit megawatt size. In addition to Germany, Solea AG is active in Spain, Italy, France, Greece and the Czech Republic (www.solea-ag.com).
