Nanjing Community Celebrates Opening of New Concept Mandarin newest Language Training Centre

Nanjing / Munich, June 14th, 2006 – Members of the local Nanjing business community celebrated the opening of New Concept Mandarin’s (NCM) newest language training centre End of May with a launch event held at the Blue Marlin Restaurant in downtown Nanjing. Co-organized by the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China (EUCCC), the special event was attended by 200 senior foreign executives of all nationalities, including representatives from Siemens, Bosch, Ford, Valeo, Atlas Copco and DSM, all coming together under one roof.

Speaking at the ceremony, Kerry Burton, Director of Business Development NCM for China, said the institute is opening new centers across China to meet the growing demand by foreign executives to acquire Mandarin Chinese (Putonghua) language skills. “Having the European Chamber open a presence in Nanjing indicated that the European foreign community here is growing and that Chinese language services would be welcomed by the expatriates and their spouses.”

Our teaching methods were developed through linguistic university research in Australia into how Westerners best learn Chinese, and over 10,000 people have successfully learnt Chinese with us. Now, by opening a new center in Nanjing, the foreigners here can benefit from learning Chinese using our blended teaching methods, which includes classroom learning, online courses, our course materials and CD-ROM.”

For the foreigners living and working in China, knowing how to respond and act in social or business situations with some knowledge of Chinese is important. It demonstrates respect for Chinese culture, gives ‘face’ and makes it easier to do business and make new friends.
