Media Archive Edit

Media Archive Edit

Blue Order, a leading Media Asset Management (MAM) vendor, will be demonstrating their tapeless workflow solution, spanning from ingest to distribution, at IBC 2009 (Stand 3.C40). The core element of the exhibit will be the release of Blue Order’s Media Archive 3.4, a powerful MAM solution which makes access to content quick and easy, automates workflows and enables content users to reuse, repurpose and resell their content more efficiently. It can easily be configured and scaled to suit the needs of evolving Media organisations.

Media Archive’s latest enhancements bring content and metadata closer to every user

MAM systems are of most use when they are self-explanatory, easy to use and offer the user the advantage of reaching their work goal more quickly and efficiently. Blue Order has focused on increasing the usability of Media Archive.

Introduction of Media Archive Edit:
Blue Order makes roughcut editing for everyone a reality. With Media Archive Edit, Journalists, Producers, Archivists and Editors can select video or audio clips, create a roughcut, add comments to the scenes, share the result with others in a collaborative workflow or send it directly to delivery.
Media Archive Edit benefits are:
- The intuitive look and feel is based on a simple three-step-process.
- The delivery to various distribution platforms is significantly accelerated by the new ‘Send-to’ function.
- The self-explanatory UI helps realize time and money savings by reducing the amount of necessary training and significantly limiting the amount of time-consuming craft editing steps.
Media Archive Edit is designed with a focus on maximum user experience and making the editing workflow faster.

Enrichment of Media Archive Web Retrieval:
- Displaying segments in the hitlist is a new feature giving users the right scenes right at their fingertips, such as: all goals of a sports event. This feature eliminates clicks and speeds up the production process.
- Media Archive’s web-based Editing functionality has been significantly enhanced to provide a shopping cart experience targeting novice users. This feature allows browsing and ordering content both on Windows and Mac.
- All Web GUIs can be customized, providing users with a GUI made-to-measure for their daily work. Media Archive comes with a set of predefined skins that can easily be adopted to the specific user needs. The creation of skins for certain user groups and the incorporation of the corporate identity are now made easy.
- Media Archive features Hits Highlighting of the search term for comfortable viewing of hits, avoiding time-consuming search through text.
- With “Did You Mean” Media Archive offers alternative suggestions, in case a previous full text search resulted in no or only very few hits. This feature is similar to the Google search and makes daily life much easier.
- The “Global Search and Replace” module is a new powerful tool for experts and administrators of sophisticated metadata models. It allows comfortable and reliable metadata correction and exchange passes through very large data sets.

Media Archive facilitates working in a global environment:
Media Archive supports Application Service Providers (ASPs) in providing Media Asset Management solutions to their customers. By using ASP platforms, broadcasters can minimize their infrastructure costs, share content with other broadcasters and focus on new business models.
Media Archive’s ASP advantages are:
- Server virtualization - reduces the overall hardware demand and saves costs.
- Open standard SOAP APIs - provide the ability to easily connect to 3rd party systems.
- A well-documented workflow engine - gives full control over every process and as such over the system.
- A fully configurable metadata model and skinnable UIs - enable customization for each customer based on their individual requirements.
- Multi-tenancy support - allows the service provider to run multiple clients on a single central server optimizing the Total Cost of Ownership.
Media Archive has been implemented as an ASP solution at a variety of customers who run the software under their own brand name.

State of the Art Platform Support for advanced performance:
The Media Archive Web based User Applications are now certified for Internet Explorer 7 and 8 under Windows XP and VISTA as well as for Safari 4.x under Mac OS 10.5 “Leopard”. The Media Archive Backend services run under Windows Server 2008 (32 bit and 64 bit) which increases the overall system performance. To speed up database access Media Archive now runs with the preferred platform Microsoft SQL Server 2008 in the 32 bit and in the 64 bit mode.

Integrated end-to-end production environment:
Media Archive integrates the latest version of SONY SONAPS Version 4.4 News and Sports Production System allowing archiving of SONAPS objects to Media Archive and restoring media objects from Media Archive back to SONAPS. The upgraded version of SONAPS system has been widely enhanced to support a variety of newsroom systems (NCRS) such as AP ENPS, AVID iNews and Norcom NCPower.
