Press release from: acrolinx GmbH

Software Vendor Works with acrolinx to Improve Information Quality

Berlin, Germany. August 18, 2009. acrolinx announces the deployment of the acrolinx® IQ software to more than 200 customer support staff at Adobe Systems Incorporated, following a very successful roll-out to 95 technical writers, editors, and managers last year. Adobe uses the acrolinx IQ software to improve the clarity, consistency, and translatability of their customer-facing content.

"acrolinx IQ software has helped Adobe to dramatically increase the productivity of our editing operations, provide better control of our terminology, and improve the overall quality of our documentation,” said Francis Tsang, director of globalization at Adobe. “These changes have had a significant effect on trimming translation costs and reducing our time-to-market. We see intelligent re-use and pre-editing for a global audience as essential aspects of our localization strategy.”

acrolinx® IQ is the worldwide leading solution for maintaining language precision and consistency across a company’s entire global content supply chain. It is a server-based solution with plug-in clients for popular text editors, and uses a familiar “spellcheck” interface to highlight potential spelling and grammar issues, as well as non-conformances to corporate style and terminology guidelines.

A complete information quality management solution, acrolinx® IQ also includes quality control metrics and reporting functions. This combination of real-time Quality Assurance and independent Quality Control leads to dramatic cost savings throughout the content authoring and localization cycles, along with corresponding reductions in time to market.

The usability of the tools, combined with the quick payback and impressive return on investment played a key role in Adobe’s decision to extend their deployment beyond the initial technical publications rollout.

In addition to the standard acrolinx IQ tools, Adobe has deployed acrolinx® IQ Terminology Lifecycle Management™ and acrolinx® Intelligent Reuse™.

Terminology Lifecycle Management™ is the first complete solution for enterprise terminology management. It allows businesses to seamlessly roundtrip terminology from discovery through validation to translation to distribution.

High-precision linguistic engines discover new terminology across languages and feed it automatically into the acrolinx® IQ system. The system supports web-based workflows for validation and deployment to writers and translators across the organization at the press of a button. Terminology Lifecycle Management not only ensures consistency and brand identity in documentation, but also enables companies to store translations, pictures, and help texts for their terms. It provides the most powerful cross-lingual search and filter functionalities of any terminology management system on the market today.

acrolinx® IQ Intelligent Reuse™ clusters sentences stored in a Translation Memory or Content Management System according to meaning. It then checks them for quality and proposes a representative from each cluster. After validation, the software suggests the representative sentences to writers in real time whenever they author text similar to that of the representative sentence. Although in its early phases, the new functionality has already proven to reduce redundancy by up to 30%.

acrolinx is the global leader in providing information quality tools for professional information developers. These tools help companies worldwide maintain their corporate and brand images, address compliance issues, improve quality, and control document production and localization costs. Its flagship product, acrolinx® IQ, is used by thousands of customers in various industries, including software, automotive, life sciences, and aerospace. It has been deployed at global enterprises like IBM, Cisco, Siemens, Bosch, John Deere, Philips, GE, SAP, Symantec and SAS.

acrolinx GmbH maintains its headquarters in Berlin, Germany with a sales and support subsidiary in North America.
