Innovation: Satellite-based temperature control in all vehicles
ThermoMed, the specialist for temperature-controlled logistic services, optimises efficiency and safety – Customers can monitor the temperature of their sensitive products online – Internet access for small dispatchers, EDP connection for large customers even more flexibleWeinheim, 17th August 2009 – trans-o-flex ThermoMed, the specialist for the transport of temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical products, has introduced two more innovations that will set the standard with respect to quality and customer service: the market leader in the area of temperature-controlled logistics has installed an automatic centralised temperature monitoring system in all vehicles and warehouses, thus having created a unique selling proposition. “This innovation offers our customers the best service and safety possible”, says Carsten Glos, Managing Director of ThermoMed, explaining the decision for introducing this new technology: in intervals of five minutes, the temperatures and positions of every single vehicle are transmitted to the ThermoMed hub in Kassel via satellite. This makes it easier to plan and schedule spontaneous pick-ups or special orders. At the same time, the expediters are permanently provided with up-to-date data as to whether the temperature in the vehicles’ cargo bays or the warehouses meets the requirements. The team will automatically receive a notification as soon as the temperature differs from the set target range. In order to increase the meaningfulness vis-à-vis the customers, the acquired sets of data have also been integrated as a new feature in the company’s website.
“We asked ourselves how we could optimise the transportation of sensitive goods for our customers“, continues Glos. “And, as regards the transportation of temperature-sensitive goods, an accurate active temperature control plays the decisive role.” This is why ThermoMed customers are now given the possibility to monitor the temperature of their goods online. In addition to this, the password-protected shipment tracking tool also provides them with data on the temperature curves of all of their shipments. Already soon after the delivery of the goods, the complete temperature development of every single shipment is made available on the Internet.
Online ordering: access for small dispatchers and more flexibility for large customers
An online ordering tool has been installed as the second interactive feature. “On the one hand, this makes it easier for small dispatchers to access our strong network and, on the other hand, our large customers can now benefit from an even more flexible connection to our EDP system“, says Glos. Following the example of trans-o-flex, ThermoMed enables its customers to send their shipment data via customised solutions. “If, however, the shipment data have all been sent and it becomes necessary to handle an additional order, our customers can now easily and quickly send the individual data online at a later point in time.” And: by visiting our website, interested companies are also given the possibility to become a new customer of ThermoMed.
