Vision Objects releases handwriting recognition solution for mobile market
Nantes, France, April 20th 2006, Vision Objects, provider of the industry standard in handwriting recognition technology for pen based user interfaces, announces today the release of MyScript Builder Embedded 1.2 dedicated to mobile devices. This new version features additional languages, offers greater accuracy and is now also available for Linux.MyScript Builder Embedded is the only solution on the market able to recognize truly natural handwriting on Linux and Symbian Operating Systems. This Software Development Kit is designed for integration of handwriting recognition capabilities into small footprint platforms such as PDAs, Internet Tablets and Smartphones. It recognizes all handwriting styles in a wide range of Asian and Western languages.
MyScript Builder Embedded helps mobile manufacturers to create user-friendly, fast and interactive text input methods for a wide range of applications varying from sending e-mails or SMS messages, to a solution that gives real-time feedback to what you write.
One of the most innovative aspects of MyScript Builder Embedded 1.2 is its capacity to integrate the use of bi-class language models. Bi-class models calculate the probability of pairs of words occurring together in order to increase overall accuracy.
In addition to Symbian and Windows CE, MyScript Builder Embedded 1.2 now also runs on Linux. This large support of operating systems allows mobile device manufacturers to integrate handwriting recognition in most platforms even proprietary.
To build even more interactive applications, MyScript Builder Embedded now includes recognition of gestures to allow mobile users to write naturally and easily insert spaces, paragraph breaks or to remove characters. This release also supports a new language pack for Norwegian in addition to the existing Asian and Western languages already available.
“This new release demonstrates Vision Objects’ ongoing investment into the development of innovative handwriting solutions for the mobile market” says Stefan Knerr, CEO and founder of Vision Objects.
MyScript Builder Embedded is currently integrated into Nokia’s Digital Pen Suite that allows users to send handwritten notes via Series 60 phones or Series 80 communicators. Tatu Lund, Product Manager at Nokia, for the Digital Pen division, believes that the handwriting recognition capabilities of MyScript Builder Embedded offer the user a very natural input method that truly enhances mobile communication.
