A super-capacitor, also named as ultra-capacitor, has a high capacity and higher capacitance compared to conventional capacitors. It is capable of storing 10 to 100 times more energy per unit volume than electrolytic capacitor. This supercapacitor acts as a bridge between capacitors and rechargeable batteries, to fill the gap between them. Super-capacitors can be used for power regulation in batteries.
