Forecast and Analysis on Neonatal Thermoregulation Market

The neonates (newly born babies) suffer from a key physiologic challenge of maintaining a neutral thermal environment and requiring special assistance due to medical conditions such as low birth weight and premature birth. Thermoregulation refers to maintain the body temperature by balancing heat production and heat loss from the body. Neonatal thermoregulator is equipment used in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), or outside to take proper care of newly born babies. The average temperature of the body that should be considered is 37°C. When the temperature drops below 36.3°C, hypothermia occurs and when the temperature rises above 37.3°C, hyperthermia, both condition causes harm to the neonatal, so the neonatal thermoregulator (incubator) should be used to maintain the body temperature. In order to ensure proper care and healthy development, these infants are placed in a special ward and given care, which is referred to as neonatal care. Neonatal equipment includes devices that are utilized in various applications for neonatal care such as respiratory assistance, monitoring, thermoregulation, and others

Neonatal infant care market is facing a surge in demand for thermoregulation devices from emerging economies such as India, China, South Africa, and Egypt. Companies operating or having distribution networks in these economies are now focusing on developing innovative and affordable neonatal technologies to cater to the needs of the maternal population. The radiant warmer is used to maintain the temperature of the baby, it uses a conduction method via a gel mattress and a radiation light from above. The closed incubator is also used during critical condition. Demand for integrated thermoregulation devices is anticipated to increase significantly during the forecast period. Increasing demand for efficient brain monitoring devices is leading to product innovation and in turn, fueling market growth

Neonatal Thermoregulation Market: Drivers and Restrains

Major growth drivers in this segment are increasing the age of the maternal population, increasing rate of premature births, high birth rates, especially in emerging economies, technological advancements, and increasing awareness levels about neonatal care. Increase in Premature Birth, an estimated 143 million babies are born globally, out of which approximately 4.20 million are born in the U.S. About 60% of term neonates and 80% of preterm neonates suffer from neonatal jaundice and requires special care as they are prone to hyperthermia and hypothermia. Due to technological advancements in medical devices across the globe, neonatal infant care is expected to witness significant growth in adoption of various equipment such as warmers, incubators and other devices in the near future. This is primarily attributed to increased healthcare awareness and enhanced healthcare spending by companies to offer efficient healthcare services to consumers. Also, strict regulations in the overall medical devices sector are expected to also increase the importance of neonatal equipment manufacturers and hence their bargaining power.
