Robert Fellner-Feldegg awarded Professorship

The Managing Director of the VAG Group, Mr Fellner-Feldegg, Industrial Engineer, has recently been honoured with a Professorship. Mr Fellner-Feldegg was awarded the title of visiting professor for a 3-year period on 30 June by the Tongji University in Shanghai. In receiving the title, Mr Fellner-Feldegg joins a host of world-renowned experts in the University's gallery of visiting professors – among them, Dr Klaus Töpfer, former German Minister for the Environment. The Tongji University has been active for many years in promoting a lively exchange of information among experts and each year it sends its students and professors to Africa and Germany to solve a wide range of environmental and water problems.

The Shanghai Tongji University, with over 45,000 enrolled students, invites experts from the environmental-technical field to hold lectures at the University, and strives to build up contact with foreign companies in China. The students gain both experience and know-how through a series of industrial placements in the field of water and waste water management.

In accepting this honour, Professor Fellner-Feldegg committed himself to holding lectures relating to his own field of expertise. In addition, he promised to organise an industrial placement at the VAG plant in Taicang for several students at the Tongji University, which met with considerable approval from his host.

Mr Fellner-Feldegg's baptism of fire took place immediately after the awards ceremony when he presented a 90-minute lecture about the technical and political effects of global water distribution, to over 100 interested students. His talk about water pressure management received a resounding response, clearly seen by the interest show during the resulting discussion.
