King Richard's Faire to Hold Tattoo Contest

Carver, MA, September 7, 2005 -- Show off your ink in King Richard’s Tattoo Contest. On Saturday, September 24th (rain date September 25th), King Richard’s Faire, the popular New England Renaissance Festival held in Carver, Mass., will hold a Tattoo Contest. Contest judges, who also happen to be extremely talented tattoo shop owners and artists, will select the winners.

Prizes will be awarded in five categories:

• Best Renaissance Tattoo
• Most Creative Tattoo
• Most Romantic Tattoo
• Most Exotic Tattoo, and of course,
• Most Regrettable Tattoo

Each of the five winners of the Tattoo Contest will receive a free tattoo from one of New England’s premiere tattoo parlors as well as accompany the King and his royal court onto the Dais for the 5 p.m. Joust.

Judging will take place on the King’s Stage at 4:00 p.m. Pre-registration is not required. Contestants should line up at the stage just prior to the contest.

Need ideas as to what may qualify for the Best Renaissance Tattoo? During the 16th century, brute strength and valor were esteemed, as were the “darker” arts of sorcery and witchcraft. Just look at the types of animals and weaponry revered, such as pythons, tigers, jaguars, falcons, crossbow, daggers, swords, shields and you’ll begin to get the picture. Fantasy creatures such as demons, wizards, warlocks and sorcerers were also admired during this time for their “mystical” ways.

A Renaissance Faire to Remember
