Private School Expo to Hit Montreal

Montreal, QC – July 14, 2009 – For the very first time, the Our Kids Private School Expo will be visiting Montreal this September. After successful stops in Toronto, Oakville, and Vancouver last year, the expo is ready to bring valuable information about Canada’s top private schools to curious families in the Montreal area.

Parents who attend the fairs are adamant about their value. “Doing research online is one thing, but this is an opportunity to see all the different schools in one place and talk to administrators and teachers. It’s pretty valuable. There are a lot of schools here we didn’t even know existed,” said one parent at last year’s expo in Toronto. The Our Kids expos, the largest private school events in the country, also provide free seminars for parents looking to learn more about how to choose a school, the benefits of boarding school, and how to finance private education.

Private School Expos are part of a trifecta of media offered by Our Kids, including a magazine published nationally once a year, distributed through the Globe And Mail along with a website that receives over 40,000 visitors per month. While many industries have suffered recently due to the economic recession, Our Kids media has not seen a loss in interest. “We’re continuing to see increases in our magazine circulation and Expo attendance. I think it just goes to show that a good education will always be a priority for families,” said Andrew Stawicki, co-founder of Our Kids Media.

Over the years, thousands of parents have attended the Our Kids’ Expos and used the magazine and website to help them understand the independent education system in Canada. The Expos are also overwhelmingly praised by exhibitors as well-planned, well-organized, and well-presented. "For families seeking a private school alternative, Our Kids Expos provide excellent national exposure. We appreciate all that Our Kids does to ensure that families are fully informed of their educational alternatives,” said Dave Bird, principal of Pinehurst School in St. Catharines.

The Our Kids Montreal Private School Expo will take place on Saturday, September 12 at the Holiday Inn Pointe-Claire, at 6700 Trans Canada Highway. Doors open at 11:00 a.m. and the event will finish at 3:00 p.m. Families can register online for free admission to the event.
