Adder KVM Overcomes Switching Limitations With New USB True

CAMBRIDGE, UK – July 8, 2009 – Adder, a leading developer of KVM switches, extenders and KVM over IP solutions, today announced the AV4PRO-DVI. AdderView PRO is a range of professional grade keyboard, video mouse and audio (KVMA) switches that enables users to share a high resolution screen and USB peripherals between multiple computers.

Designed for the professional user, the AV4PRO, features USB True Emulation technology. True emulation was first seen in the AV8PRO-DVI, and has now made it into this new 4 port version. “With True USB Emulation technology, a whole new group of users can take advantage of the flexibility KVM switches have to offer,” said Nigel Dickens, Engineering Director of Adder. “Users in architecture, graphic design, post production, animation, etc. often need to use specialized interface devices such as graphics tablets, 3D explorers, joysticks, and so on. The AV4PRO-DVI makes this possible.”

Adder’s revolutionary USB True Emulation technology is used to overcome the problems that have traditionally been associated with USB KVM switches. True Emulation means that the exact characters of the keyboard and mouse are continuously emulated to the computers, meaning that all the extra keys and functions of HID devices are supported without the unreliability problems associated with switched (enumerated) USB operation.

As well as delivering an intelligently conceived and functional KVM switch, Adder has included a uniquely flexible independent switching mode. This allows a user to take different elements of functionality from each connected computer. For example, the user could take the video, keyboard and mouse function from one computer while taking the audio from another. At the same time, allowing any of the connected computers to make use of the two additional USB ports, which may be connected to a printer or scanner for example.

In creative environments such as post-production, graphic design, architecture or game development, the AV4PRO-DVI will enable a truly flexible workflow while providing the ability to share resources. Full Dual Link DVI and digital audio, plus the ability to use unique input devices guarantees creativity is never compromised.

Other natural applications for a device, which, beyond enormous flexibility, delivers absolute signal quality, include medical imaging and command and control environments. The AV4PRO-DVI is ideal for operators in these industries who often need to switch between visually intensive systems while making use of common elements. The AV4PRO-DVI’s ability to handle resolutions up to WQXGA (2560 x 1600) ensures the user can make the most of every small picture detail with total confidence.

Over the last 25 years, Adder has achieved an enviable reputation for quality and function combined with intelligent design. The AV4PRO-DVI is a testament to this. With a launch price of $495, the AV4PRO-DVI is available now from local dealers.
