Delhi Taxi Service Operators Welcome Steps Taken For Digital Monitors In Cabs

New Delhi, 18 Dec 2017: Top taxi operators in Delhi NCR welcome the step taken by Delhi transport department to install digital monitors in cabs so that route taken by the cab driver can be tracked in real time. The step is taken to further enhance the safety of passengers, especially the women.

Highly developed digital monitors will be installed in all the cabs to keep a track of the route taken by the driver. This newly introduced safety measure is part of the City Taxi Scheme which is likely to be put in public domain.

“This is a very good step taken by the government as passenger safety is the priority. Women passengers have lot of concerns on the issue and something like digital monitor is a good idea. Now they would be able to track the route taken by drivers and know about their destination,” says Jaiveer Tomar, proprietor Aone Trips, top car rental service provider operating from Delhi NCR.

“Our all taxis are GPS enabled and we provide route details to the passengers in real time. There cannot be any compromise on safety issues,” he adds.

Presently, majority of cabs have mobile phones with built-in GPS navigators on the dashboards through which the cab drivers check routes. But, the back seat passengers are unable to trail the navigation map. Now, since digital monitors to be fitted on the backside of the driver head rests, through them passengers also can follow the route.

Furthermore, the cabs will also have panic button to help any passenger in case of adverse situations.

"Several such safety measures will be required for future cabs as app-based taxi services are used by many passengers who could be vulnerable," says Sooraj singh, owner Sun Taxi Services.

Meanwhile, the Transport department lately issued a directive for attaching stickers in the cabs to caution the passengers to confirm before boarding the cab that its child lock is disabled.
