On the slippery slope
Internal tilting table as an accessory for all stationary contact angle instrumentsMeasurements on tilted surfaces provide information about the roughness of the sample and the adhesion of the drop. On the one hand the difference between the contact angles on both sides of the drop can be measured; on the other hand the roll-off angle - which is the angle of inclination at which the drop begins to move on the surface - can be detected.
The tilting table offers a flexible solution to both measuring problems for the modular systems EasyDrop*, DSA30 and DSA100. The sample table can be freely rotated through 360°; the rotation is independent of all other components of the instrument. Depending on the problem, the surface can be tilted before or after drop deposition. The table is available in a manual and a software-controlled version and can therefore be adapted to suit the degree of automation of your instrument. If you already own one of the contact angle instruments mentioned you can always complement your system with the new accessory.
The tilting table can be used for sample sizes up to 75 X 100 mm (depending on the type of instrument). For larger samples or for the combination with horizontal axes, wafer tables and other accessories the tilting frame PA3220 together with the DSA100 measuring system can be used. In this setup the whole instrument is tilted.
The internal tilting table is available from the 3rd quarter of 2009.

KRÜSS Drop Volume Tensiometer DVT50: A speedometer for surfactants
New Tensiometer of KRÜSS (kruss.de) celebrates the premiere at ACHEMA 2009
The interfacial tension value is often a question of time and speed. The DVT50 measures the dynamic interfacial tension as a function of the interface age and provides important information about the adsorption kinetics of surface-active substances.
Thanks to its wide measuring range from 100 mN/m down to 0.1 mN/m and the possibility of thermostatting the liquid phases the instrument is…
