How One New York Middle School Student is Fighting Discrimination

After this past contentious US election, where racism, discrimination, acceptance and inclusion where a huge discussion in the world and experiencing first hand herself this middle school student, Nodi khan a middle school student attending Hunters Point Middle School in Long Island City, New York decided to use her pen to fight back and do something about it. Using her imaginative storytelling she has just published a fresh unique book titled “WHY THE TREES CHANGE COLOR IN FALL” which is now available from Amazon, in considering the times we now find ourselves in and all the divisions surrounding our world, this is a story of hope, diversity, acceptance, inclusion and an inspiration to stay true to yourself and never change but be yourself always wherever life takes you.

The book is a magical journey about a happy loving family of “Six Grass Strands” that lived in harmony in their birth land, they had everything they needed or wanted, and everything was picture perfect where they lived until one sunny day which changed everything, when that sunny day turned into a dark grey day and when a furious Tornado came in, swept them away and changed everything for these Six Stands of Grass Siblings.

When the storm passed, and they woke up, they realized they were no longer home, but in a strange new place, where things looked and smelled very different, everything was different, the climate, the colors, the sun, the sky, the plants, everything! They had no choice but to stay in this strange mysterious land where they found themselves, as they were viciously injured and needed to heal themselves before they could figure a way to get back home

The world would just not be the same thereafter and we find out in the end of their journey why truly the Trees of the World Change their colors in Fall, Myth or Fact, that is for you to decide.

Nodi Khan has been writing since 1st grade, her writing credits include one short story she published in 2nd Grade title “Popsicle Party” and can be found on Amazon. She has continued to receive numerous recognition awards for her writing in her academic life, she truly enjoys writing and is a natural story teller, her teachers have always encouraged her to continue her writing outside of the class room and try to publish her works. She is currently in 8th Grade and soon will go into High School, she is eager to pursue her writing ambitions.
