NABL Accreditation for Furniture Testing Awarded to SGS Laboratory in Manesar, North India
The National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) has accredited SGS’s laboratory in Manesar, North India, to provide furniture testing and certification. NABL certification means testing and calibration is carried out at the laboratory to ISO/IEC 17025 guidelines for the maintenance of quality management systems.Opened in December 2016, the Manesar site has already achieved several distinctions during its first year of operation. Situated in the Gurgaon District, the facility already works with a number of furniture exporting manufacturers and international buyers, offering tests against a wide variety of US and EU standards:
• Mechanical and physical requirements:
o ANSI BIFMA X5.1, X5.4, X5.5, X5.9, ASTM F2057, etc. for the US market
o EN 12520, EN 581, EN 14749, etc. for the EU market
• Flammability (upholstery furniture and textile parts):
o CTB 117:2013 for the US market
o EN 1021, ISO 8191, BS 5852 for the EU market
• Chemicals:
o Formaldehyde (wood), PCP, cadmium (plastics), azo dyes (textile) for the EU market
